The Minoan cemetery and tombs have been continually
excavated and restored. The dozens of peculiar tombs
create an impressive site. Many of the tombs are a few
meters deep, forming a small chamber at the end of some
ten stony steps. The smaller tombs are too small to enter.

………………………………………………………………………………………………..

One of the deepest tombs in the Armeni cemetery. The tomb carved into the soft rock is an end product of a lot of hard work

Descent down to the cold and moist air is a descent into the past

There are lights in the larger tombs

The tombs inside the rocks are the size of a small room. There are low platforms on the walls around the tomb. The openings and walls have some marks of finishing touches

The return to the hot air and bright daylight from the moist, dark and cellar like space is an odd experience
